Trick or Treat!

... Smell my feet! Give me something good to eat!

Happy Halloween all! Hope this holiday has been filled with lots of candies, ghouls, pumpkins, and vampires.

I'm currently at the airport waiting for my flight to Las Vegas. Woohoo! I feel a little silly dressed as Supergirl but thank god, I'm not the only one dressed up. I just saw my fellow DC character, Batman walking by! And there's a little baby toddling around in a penguin suit. SO CUTE...

Check out the amount of luggage we've packed this year. My luggages are so cute. We usually bring an extra luggage more for our shopping but I believe this time we've learn to cut down the amount of things we bring with us to Vegas.

I can't wait to get there. I wanna see the whole city dressed up, or I hope they are! I can't wait for the shows, the shopping, the food, the Bellagio Fountains, the liveliness of the city! And the best part? Sharing it with Lance and my friends! We're all setting out on different flights and it kinda feels like the Amazing Race with different couples setting out at different times and Lance and I are on the first flight. Muahahaha.

I doubt I will be able to blog there due to the lack of internet but perhaps I will work on future posts so I can post them up after I come back.

Once again I hope everyone has a safe Halloween.

ps. Lance hurry up, I'm starving. D:<

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2013

Anyone else excited for this year's runway show? I would love to watch this in person one day because it is one of the things that I love to do around Christmas time. It get's me in a very 'Christmasy' mood. A couple of years ago at a Christmas party I even made all my friends watch it. I'm that crazy about it. Pretty girls & sexy lingerie...what's not to love! It's always so magical and playful and tickles my fantasies.

Unfortunately this year Miranda Kerr won't be in the show due to another work commitment...BUMMER because she's one of my favourites. She is so darn cute!

And who is to don the Fantasy Bra this year? The South African beauty: Candice Swanepoel. The "Royal Fantasy Bra", designed by jeweler Mouawad, is valued at $10 million with over 4,200 precious stones mixed of diamonds, rubies and yellow sapphires set in 18 karat gold. It even includes a 52 karat pear-shaped ruby dangling in the center of the bra! Crazy... I honestly wonder how heavy that bra is. I love how girly and pretty it looks with the flowers and bow detail. It is quite exquisite and gorgeous.

What are your thoughts? Are you a fan of Victoria's Secret fashion shows?

Stuart Weitzman Fall 2013

Flawless, iconic Kate Moss strutting in some Stuart Weitzman boots? Exquisite! I'm in love.

Personally, I love the first three because I have a slight obsession with over the knee and thigh high boots. Kate Moss looks absolutely stunning but that's no surprise there. Leave me a comment and let me know which ones you like.

Catching Up

Since I've been gone from the blogging world all summer, I've decided to share what I did this summer with a little collage. All these pictures are take off my Instagram account: ForgetfulCupid. Follow me!

(From left to right, top to bottom)
  1. Made some strawberry treats for Lance. Super cute right?  Follow this simple video to make them.
  2. My friend and I were waiting for another friend to sign his papers for the purchase of his car so we coloured with some crayons. Can you tell which is mine? ;-)
  3. & 4. Lance got a room at the hotel he works at for our anniversary. We got some cupcakes and Moet champagne.

  1. A birthday card from my mamacita 2, haha. Love this girl.
  2. Birthday nails.
  3. My birthday gift from Lance.
  4. The lipstick I got. The red is a bit off in the picture, but rest assured it's the perfect Chanel red lippy. So proud of Lance for being able to pick a red shade that matches my skin tone.

  1. Birthday makeup.
  2. Birthday curly hair and dress from SG.
  3. Birthday balloon as a tail on my bag from Lance.
  4. All my awesome friends who were able to make it out on my Birthday. A biiiiiiig thank you. =)

  1. Drinks because it was during Stampede. Possibly the best reason be drunk during those 10 days, not that I was...
  2. Lance took me to a Malaysian place to eat because I missed SG. The beef rendeng was good, the laksa on the other hand didn't taste that authentic as it could. =(
  3. Success is being able to take a nap and waking up with your makeup perfectly intact. Woop woop.
  4. Nude nails with ombre gold glinter.

Stay tuned for part 2!

Oscar de la Renta's Snow White

Oscar de la Renta's Snow White, Harrods
Oh how I'd give to see this in real life.

With the busyness of school, work, life or whatever you have to do, I hope everyone's been able to find a wicked costume for Halloween.

Bisous!

Ombre Saturday

How was my fellow Canadian's long weekends? Hope it was safe and full of fun.

This past Saturday Lance and I had a casual day down at 17th Ave just walking around for a bit before we had dinner with my family. We actually had nothing planned for the weekend because Lance worked overnight on Friday and Saturday. It was really easy going as I was suffering from pretty bad migraines over the last few days.

We had the pleasure in checking out the donuts at Modern Jelly. They have quite interesting flavors and I liked the fruity ones. They were ridiculously HUGE. It was an interesting experience even though donuts aren't my thing. If you live in Calgary you guys should try it out at least once. The pretty fuchsia pink accents are what drew me in to the place. Has anyone else tried it? What are your thoughts? I believe they have a store in Toronto as well.

I recently bought this skirt in a sale at Forever 21 and I love the purple ombre look. The flowy top layer totally sealed the deal for me because it reminded me of the flowy dance skirts and the movement of this skirt is beautiful. I paired it with a simple loose white tee with a gold scallop necklace.

My shoes are Tell Me by Kenneth Cole Reaction. SUUUUPER comfy wedges. I love the faux snake skin detailing at the back and the ankle straps are convenient for me because the shoes doesn't fall off my feet. The rubber soles grip the floor so I don't feel like I'm tripping. Here's another picture of them.

Hope everyone has a lovely week ahead!

L'oreal Paris Precious Oils

I won! I won!! Look at what I won. LOL.

I never win anything... But back in April or the beginning of May, L'oreal Paris Canada had a contest where you'd go online and click a button and it would instantly tell you if you were a winner or not (you could enter again the next day if you didn't win). I thought sure why not and I clicked it and instantly won! Insane!

A month later they sent me a bubbled package to my door with my full size bottle of L'oreal Nutri Sleek Precious Oils. Mmm it smells heavenly on my hair. You apply a pump or 2 in your hands and rub it in to your hair (I would go for the tips as that's where our hair is most damage) for nourishment while it softens your hair and gives it a nice shine. The oil surprisingly gets soaked up in your hair really quickly so it doesn't feel oily. You could even do a strand test with an oil blotting sheet. Run the sheet through the ends and it won't leave a oily mark the way our face does. Crazy!

I honestly didn't think they would send me a bottle of it, but maybe just a coupon to bring into stores. Really happy that they sent out the bottles this way. Thank you L'oreal!

My Chuck Taylors

Hello world!

What do you think of our matching shoes? Tacky? Muahahahhaa. I love it because it's kind of subtle and not super matchy like some Asian couples.

Bwahahahaha.

I love my Chucks. The colour is just so beautiful, vibrant, and out there! Lance always wanted me to get a pair of Converse shoes but I told him I was waiting on a very special colour to pop up. I wanted something different, not the usual black, white, or blue. I would have settled for a pastel colored one only. I regret not buying a pair of metallic gold chucks that I found an at outlet store in Seattle years ago. SO SAD.

I had seen a pair of these shoes online once but that was months ago before our Vegas trip. I tried looking for them when we were there, except there were none... I only found a pair of these in a men's size 13 at the north outlet mall for sale. I was super sad. I was going to buy a pink pair from a normal store but decided to hold out. Luckily on our last day we decided to go to the south outlet mall and I found these bad boys... the very last ones!!! In my size!!! For sale!! I totally left Vegas feeling very satisfied. They were under $30 USD, a very awesome price for a pair of high tops. I was extremely lucky to have found these in Vegas.

Wa's Japanese Restaurant

My, my, my , it's been a long time since I've wrote. It's been quite a busy month (anniversary, birthday, etc), so excuse me! I will be trying to put old posts up in the next little while. I kind of got lazy and fell out of schedule with blogging, buuuuuut let's go!

Hope everyone's been well. Recently, Calgary was hit by a flood and we're slowly rebuilding our city. I won't go into much details because I'll leave that for a different post. Not to worry, my family and I weren't hit. We're much far north from the downtown area that suffered drastically.

Last month, Lance and I got to check out a small little Japanese place just off Center Street and 17th Avenue, NW. Oh my! This place is incredibly small but it's so intimate. It's so authentic and fresh, it's definitely one of the best sushi places in Calgary. We had reservations on a Saturday for I believe 7:30 pm just for safety because usually it's quite busy.

The reason we chose to go to this restaurant was because for years I've been reading about a few bloggers that go to Japan and eat these awesome dishes called Chirashi. Actually, I'm kind of a fool because I always skimmed over the name of the dish or either forget it and thought that you could only get it in Japan. LOL. That was totally not true. The way I found this place was through Lance's sister's Instagram. My jaw dropped when I saw the picture, I basically begged Lance to bring me here.Since then, I've found a few other restaurants that sell Chirashi, but it's never like Wa's!

Lance and I ordered a lot of food between the two of us, ooops! But oh man, we absolutely loved it.

We had the fried eggplant and I apologize because I cannot think of the name for this dish and the next one. You should give this a try if you're a eggplant fan. It's so yummy the way they cook it with the sauce it's served with. I just can't describe the taste. I actually put the sauce on my Chirashi rice, hehe.

Next up is a sashimi appetizer, I cannot think of the name, but it's like kimchi sashimi. I believe this one is tuna with avocado and a mild spicy sauce. You don't need soy sauce with this dish. You should enjoy it the way it's served because it's already marinated for you.

We ordered a few creamy scallop sushi, a piece of toro sashimi and salmon eggs, except they mixed up my salmon eggs for uni. =( It's okay, they sent it out to me after. =D I think it's become a habit for me to try toro at almost every Japanese restaurant we go to now. It's incredibly soft and one of my favorite sashimi. If it wasn't so expensive, I could totally just have a lot of it for dinner, hehe. The creamy scallop sushi was pretty standard compared to other Japanese restaurants. Lance and I tend to order this sushi at every Japanese place we go to too, even if we're eating other dishes than sushi.

Now the star of the meal! OMG. It was love at first sight. Chirashi always comes with a variety of sashimi (YUM) and garnishes over a warm bed of rice. It's always beautiful and artistic the way they arrange the ingredients. It's super pricey but worth it. I recommend everyone to at least try this dish if you are heading down to Wa's. I can't do these posts on an empty tummy anymore, they just make me want to eat it again! Hopefully I'll get to have some soon. *HINT HINT* Lance. ;-)

We also had the pork ramen because it was a tad cold that day and Lance was craving it.

For the final dish, I ordered a Chawanmushi to share. You won't believe how excited I was to find this here in Calgary. Everywhere I go, I always look for this appie but can never find it. I believe it's more common to find it in Vancouver but this is probably the only restaurant here in Calgary that makes it. My parents always ordered it for us when we ate Japanese food in Singapore and Vancouver. It's a steam savoury egg custard with different kinds of ingredients steamed into it such as mushrooms, prawns, kamaboko, etc. This particular one only had a prawn at the bottom and a few salmon eggs, green onions and ginger on top. I wished they had added kamaboko and mushrooms in it as it would have made the dish more aesthetically pleasing and delicious. Nonetheless, I would totally order it again.

Overall we had a pleasant evening with our belly filled to the rim with food. Besides our slight hiccup with the uni, everything was splendid. I can't wait to go back to Wa's as there was a bunch of other dishes Lance and I wanted to try.

Happy Stampede to all my fellow Calgarians. Yee-haw!

Fairy Peacock Dress

Bonsoir mes amours.

Here are some shots of my outfit that I bought from Singapore back in November. I love the material it's so light, flow-y and satin-like. I adore the pattern because it's just like a peacock and it's ever so fairy like. I kind of feel like Tinkerbell.  I matched it with a t-shirt cardigan for that lightweight easy breezy cover up. Can you believe it? I bought this dress for $10 SGD. Amazing. I miss shopping in Singapore.

Oh, and I had total perfect hair that day!

Patio Weather!... At Melrose...

A couple of Mondays ago, I met up with a couple of friends for some drinks on a patio in 17th Ave as the weather was GORGEOUS. We weren't sure where to go but eventually decided on Melrose because I saw some people drinking their fish bowl drinks from a couple of days ago. It made me want to have one LOL. Unfortunately, Melrose was out of it. Actually they were out of the Tomato Boccocini salad we wanted to order too... The salad was understandable, but your most expensive drink?

Since they didn't have the fish bowl, I asked the server to recommend me a drink. No, no, no, no. Terrible idea. He suggested the Bullseye. It was a blend of some kinda of strawberry syrup and liquor with Red Bull in it; which tasted just like strawberry medicine. I mean who wants to drink a glass full of that? Blegh! I finally settled for the Champeach which was okay... Not my cup of tea but whatever. I don't understand why you would put ice in champagne. Whose smart idea was this? Stupidly overprice for a tiny cocktail.

We ordered some appies to share all around. We had the chicken taco salad, spinach dip, ribs and poutine. Do not get the ribs unless you want something super salty. I mean extremely salty. Which is probably not a good idea as you may die of dehydration in this hot weather. Ahahhaa, I'm just joking. But seriously, skip it. The rest of the food was okay. There's nothing really to write home about since it is pub food.

Overall, it was a pretty disappointing experience as I was actually excited to dine here. I am thankful that our server was great. He took the orders of the Bullseye and ribs back after we told him we didn't like it. We must have looked like a difficult group but can you blame us when almost all their food we wanted to get was out?

Thankfully we got some froyo after that disaster to make up for it. LOL.

Outfit of the day: Onesie top from Sirens and sailor skirt is from Forever 21.

Sandals are from Topshop and I am lovingggggg my nail polish. It changes in the sunlight.
My mother was pretty shocked when I showed her. Hahaha.

Cibo Calgary

Lance and I recently got into habit into having date nights once a week. It's usually Saturdays if both of our schedules permit. We decided to start trying new restaurants each date night as there is so many different kinds of food you can get now that Calgary is turning into quite the culinary destination. Last Saturday we decided to give Cibo a go. We've tried the food here once, but we didn't really enjoy it. I think I must have been in a bad mood or something last time, but we went back for a second try.

The one thing that we don't really like about this restaurant is the foyer/entrance area. As you step into the restaurant you are greeted by hostesses who are standing a couple of steps higher than you. It's kind of an awkward feeling as they look down while talking to you; kind of like when you're a child trying to talk to someone at a counter. We told our hostess we just wanted a table for two and she told us it would be a 30 minutes wait which we didn't mind because a. it was a Saturday and b. it was extremely sunny and packed everywhere on 17th Ave, so this was ok. Conveniently enough, the other hostess behind her said that there was available seating upstairs where she could seat us right now. Weee! While we were walking to our table, I noticed about 20 tables that were unused so I don't quite understand why the first hostess would tell us there was a 30 minute wait. Hmm...

Anywhoooo we over-ate like pigs. D=< Don't scroll down if you're hungry. I started with a Cibo Sangria which was pretty good. I like the soft red Italian wine they used in it, but I'm pretty allergic to wine. It makes my face blow up and turn really red. =( Does anyone else get this?

We had the scodellinas to start which are mini tapas to share. It was 5 for $18. We ordered the Smoked Ham Hock, Buffalo Mozzarella, Smoked Salmon, Eggplant Puree and Bresaola, and it all came with some baguette chips. Ahhh, the eggplant puree was so good. It makes me want to make some now that I recently got a food processor. *Big smile!* My second favorite was the smoked salmon with pistachios. *Drools* I can't say no to smoked salmon. I could eat it forever. The rest were kind of mediocre to me, but that's my food preference.

Next up we had the pappardelle and the ravioli. Mmmm, I actually really like their pasta. It has all the right flavors and ingredients that makes you just want to keep eating. Originally we were going to share both these pastas with one another but Lance basically claimed the pappardelle. He was saying how if anyone ever captured me and asked me what his favorite noodle or pasta is it would be pappardelle. What? Who thinks of things like this? Obviously him. He loved the olives in the pasta as well and normally I can't even get him to eat olives... What?! Weirdo.

The ravioli was lovely, but unfortunately I was kind of full from the appies. The sauce was uber creamy and delicious. I'm actually craving this right now. Omg, I can't write about food any more, especially when it's late at night. It just makes you crave everything. Terrible idea.

What I wore to dinner: top is from Urban Planet, skirt is from Sirens,
the cream sequins cardigan is from H&M and the shoes are Converse.

After dinner, we walked around for a bit before heading to Tutti Frutti for some froyo. Yeah, I don't know what we were thinking getting all of that, but it was damn good.

Happy Mother's Day

I had a wonderful time celebrating Mother's Day with my mother this weekend. She is the real definition of a mother. She is a hard worker and has given us everything we've ever wanted. She loves each and everyone of us unconditionally no matter what. And trust me, there's a lot of us to put up with. She taught me good morals and values from young that I carry over to my adult life and I can't imagine my life without her. Over the past year, I had the pleasure of travelling with her to Singapore and I will cherish that moment forever.

Here are some of my favourite family photos.

I would like to wish all the mothers out there a very Happy Mother's Day!
And to everyone, please take the time to spend this day with your mother. Cherish her. She really is like a real life super hero being there whenever you need it.

Here's what I wore to dinner. Denim blouse and high-low skirt is from Forever 21. Sandals are from Topshop and purse is from Louis Vuitton.

Breakfast at Monki's

A couple of weeks ago, Lance took me to Monki's for breakfast. We rarely get the chance to go for breakfast any more so whenever we get to go it's well cherished. Monki's is a small restaurant that probably holds up to 25+ people. It is located on 1301 10th Ave. SW. The interior is really homey, clean and super bright. The server was great and attentive. Personally I rather go to small little hidden gems for breakfast than the big chain restaurants as their dish tend to be more creative and different.

Has anyone had the San Pellegrino blood orange soda? It's so good and refreshing. I actually really hate oranges but I can do blood orange. I think it's the colour of it that makes it appealing to me. I started watching Dexter over a couple of months ago and in the opening he cuts up a blood orange and juices it. It made me want to eat blood oranges after. LOL. And believe it or not, a few days later my mother bought some. YES! She read my mind.

I had the Lobster Mac & Cheese. That was so delicious. The lobster was a little fishy for Lance's taste, but then again, he hates all kinds of shellfish. Sad face. They had truffle oil on it which was delish!!  I'm craving some now. Lance, let's go back soon!

I can't recall what Lance had but it had beef and potatoes in a skillet topped with eggs.
The brisket was super tender just the way we like it.
